New security features will soon be implemented for members who take advantage of the FREE APCO My Virtual StrongBox service.

On Tuesday, May 20, 2014, new password requirements will take effect.  All passwords beginning May 20 must follow the following guidelines:

  • Password length must be a minimum of 8 characters
  • Contain 1 uppercase letter
  • Contain 1 non-alpha numeric character

In addition, APCO My Virtual StrongBox users will be prompted to reset their password every 90 days.

As an added security feature, users will experience a lockout period of five minutes after three invalid login attempts. Users who experience a lockout should close their browser and start a new browser session before reattempting to login.

APCO My Virtual StrongBox users can reset their password by clicking the “Forgot Password” link on the login page. The “Forgot Password” link will generate an email to the email address that is in the user’s profile.

The seminar, hosted by APCO Employees Credit Union, was held in Building 42 at Southern Company offices in Inverness.

APCO has a mortgage program called the FIRST TIME HOME BUYERS and our mortgage experts are willing and able to guide you through the process for no cost or obligation.

A quick overview of the program:

  • APCO understands buying your fist home has many challenges. Obtaining the down payment is the biggest challenge but we have loans available at up to 95% of the purchase price. APCO’s program allows you to up just 5% down which gives you room in your budget to make home improvements, buy furniture, or to otherwise invest your money.
  • In this program there is no PMI (private mortgage insurance). PMI is an insurance product that is paid by the member/borrower that protects the lender/credit union in case there is a default on the loan. There is NO benefit to the ember/borrower for this expense. By waiving this requirement it allows for a lower monthly payment.
  • Typically we can provide you a pre-approval within 48 hours of submission of a completed online application (www.apcocu.org). We recommend that you obtain the pre-approval prior to making any offers on a home. The pre-approval will aid you in your negotiations of your purchase by showing that the seller you have funds secured to support your offer.

Representatives from your Credit Union offered a FREE mortgage analysis today for members and employees of the City of Hoover.

The Mortgage Symposium was held at the Public Safety Center in Hoover. Credit Union employees helped members and employees determine personalized mortgage options, including pre-approvals for home purchases, cash out refinancing, and no-obligation mortgage analysis.

Today’s mortgage symposium was the second of two held this month for City of Hoover employees. The first was held last week at Hoover City Hall.
